YOGA FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Please join us as we honor breast cancer awareness month for an interactive Yoga Mat and Chair Yoga program!

Research shows that people can control physical functions, such as breathing, heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure, through Yoga practice. By controlling these physical functions, Yoga can help people reduce stress levels and improve feelings of relaxation and well-being.

Research also shows that people with breast cancer who do Yoga may feel less stressed, enjoy a better quality of life, and experience less Trusted Source fatigue.

One 2018 review Trusted Source found that low intensity forms of Yoga, such as gentle Hatha and restorative Yoga, are safe and effective for treating the following symptoms in people with cancer or survivors:
  • Fatigue
  • Sleep disruption
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Musculoskeletal symptoms

For National Breast Cancer awareness we would like everyone on that day to wear PINK.

WORLD HISTORY - See dates below - Registration required
5-Week Course - 11/17/21 Class will be from 12-1pm

10/13/21 - Alaska: Gold: Gold: Gold:
In 1898, one of the largest events to affect Alaska’s future was the discovery of Gold. The story of the Alaska gold rush has much in common with the California gold rush of 1849. In the summer of 1897, two steamboats arrived in San Francisco and Seattle, disembarking prospectors carrying extraordinarily heavy luggage filled with nuggets of gold in fruit jars and jelly tumblers. The news flashed across the country, and tens of thousands of people, most of them young men, began preparing to head north to Alaska.

10/20/21 - The Amazing Amazon - Magical, Vibrant and Passionate:
The Spanish soldier, Francisco de Orellana, gave the river its name after reporting pitched battles with tribes of female warriors, whom he likened to the Amazons of Greek mythology. The Amazon rainforests are the largest ecosystem of the world and are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.

11/10/21 - Polynesian Island – The Land That Time Forgot:
On Easter Sunday Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen discovered a Polynesian Island 1400 miles from the coast of South America and named it Easter Island. He noted that the island was treeless and wondered how its massive statues were erected. Much of the population was later wiped out and the island became a possession of Chile.

11/17/21 - Captivating Cuba – Yesterday-Today and Tomorrow:
The Rise of Fidel Castro had a profound effect on Cuban society, leading to doubts about the ability of the Cubans to govern themselves. After seizing power in the Caribbean Island nation of Cuba in 1959, leftist revolutionary leader Fidel Castro (1926-2016) aligned himself with the Soviet Union. Under Castro, Cuba grew dependent on the Soviets for military and economic aid. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, leaders of the U.S. and the Soviet Union engaged in a tense, 13-day political and military standoff in October 1962 over the installation of nuclear-armed Soviet missiles in Cuba, just 90 miles from U.S. shores.
