English as a Second Language course (Fridays 9:30-10:30am Adult Lounge) will resume on Friday, October 24th. This course is taught by Martin Goldberg, who is a veteran New York City public school teacher, with many years of experience teaching English language learners. The course uses a whole language approach to teaching the basic components of language-listening, speaking, reading and writing. Using vocabulary-based units and grammar-based activities, the students will learn to improve their ability to speak, understand, read and write English. Participants will be given ample opportunities to participate and gain confidence for becoming proficient in English. This course DOES NOT REQUIRE REGISTRATION. We encourage any participants whose primary language is not English to attend and take advantage of this excellent opportunity our program offers.

Make Your Own Greeting Cards computer class was moved to Wednesdays 2:15-3:15pm as of October 1st and will continue every Wednesday until November 26th. This class will take place in the Computer Lab. Instructor: Carol Weibel Registration is NOT required for this class. There will be an additional Discover Your iPad class taught by Carol Rosen on Fridays 3:45-4:45pm starting October 24th and ending on November 28th. This class does not require registration and attendance will be on a first come first serve basis. Class will take place in the President’s Room. Recorder club is cancelled for October 24. The Coalition works with all facets of Israeli society to handle difficult situations that Israel has faced in the past five years due to rocket attacks from Gaza. Talia will explore her activity in hospitals, community and day centers throughout Israel to confront the many psychological issues facing large segments of the population.
