CLLD:

  • August and September birthdays will be celebrated during dinner on Thursday, 9/14 with a birthday cake!
  • Current Events will meet in the Social Hall on 9/13 and 9/27 from 2-3.
  • Android Phone is moved back to the Rotunda 1:30-2:30 Tuesdays.
  • New Class! Intermediate to Advanced Ulpan. Beginning September, 20 11am-12pm in the Adult Lounge​

The award winning documentary "Nana" by Serena Dykman will be presented on Sunday 9/17 at 11am at the Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island. It is sponsored by the Dr. Esther Grushkin Seminars for Adult Jewish Education (SAJE). The subject of the documentary is Maryla Michalowski-Dyamant, who was born in Poland and survived multiple concentration camps during WWII as a forced translator for Dr. Mengele, the 'Angel of Death'.

Her daughter and granddaughter explore how her fight against intolerance can continue today when anti-Semitism and racism are on the rise. Q & A with director/writer/producer Serena Dykman. Reception with light dessert. Open to the community. Tickets: $18 JCC member/$22 non-member.
