MOVIE: “Schindler’s List”
Oskar Schindler is a vainglorious and greedy German businessman who becomes an unlikely humanitarian amid the barbaric German Nazi reign when he feels compelled to turn his factory into a refuge for Jews. Based on the true story of Oskar Schindler who managed to save about 1100 Jews from being gassed at the Auschwitz concentration camp, it is a testament to the good in all of us.

How to listen and Understand Great Music: This class will focus on listening to and discussing the great masterpieces by the major composers of Western music: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninov, to name just a few. We will survey the historical eras - Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern. We’ll look at the composers lives and their position in society, as well as examining their different genres and forms, the development of the instruments and harmonic language, performance practice of the time, etc. This class will enhance your appreciation of classical music.
