The answer was a resounding NO! Let's examine several of Staten Island's amazing historic landmarks and districts. We'll discuss their unique history, who built them, why they are landmarks, and more. We will take an in-depth look at the Seguine-Burke Mansion, the Sandy Ground Oystermen Cottages, the Rossville AME Church and Cemetery, the historic Church of Saint Andrew, structures at the National Lighthouse Museum complex, the Vanderbilt
Mausoleum, and others. How they become designated New York City landmarks is an amazing story!

Travel Thru History is an educational/informational series of lectures designed to spark interest and enthusiasm in students to learn about the rich and fascinating history by traveling to diverse locations. It’s an adventure through early European and North/South American history that tells the stories of the people, places, and events that shape the institutions of the world. 
 

Art of Tap- Dancing- Beginners

Students will learn a tap dance and perform at the JCC in the Spring. Date(s) to be determined. Students should commit to attending at least 80% of classes. Men & women are welcome to join us. You may be the next Ginger Rogers or Fred Astaire. (No rubber sole shoes like sneakers!)

Discover your personal talent - the magical side of art - and learn to speak about your art so the others would get it. The class includes art theory, creative exercises and fun interpersonal mini-games. There will be some adventurous homework between the classes to keep you on track, but it is totally optional. At the end of a semester, we will have a virtual presentation to share our journey! No previous experience necessary, beginner friendly, no camera needed.
