One of the most interesting and unique classical ensembles , "a duo so in tune that it sounds like one instrument" (Maxim Vengerov). They have performed in 24 countries on four continents, performing over 200 recitals. They currently divide their professional life between Warsaw and New York. Their extensive repertoire includes works from the Baroque to contemporary music. An important part of their activities is the promotion of music by Polish composers, including composers of Jewish origin. In the last few months, they have presented recitals in Argentina, Portugal and the United States (Los Angeles, Washington D.C.), among others. In addition to making innovative and unique transcriptions for their unique setting of instruments they actively collaborate with contemporary composers inspiring them to create works with a new timbre. Their latest CD "BŁAŻEWICZ" with Sonata and Double Concerto for violin, accordion and symphony orchestra by Marcin Błażewicz was nominated for the prestigious „FRYDERYK” award (Polish equivalent of „Grammy”).

Every two weeks, the class will have fun with poems. I will provide background for an assignment as to a particular form of poetry. Assignments might also ask you to use of a particular poetical device. You do not have to do the assignment. You may bring old poems or new poems you are working on. Bring copies for everyone, if possible. One copy for the instructor is a must. We will go around the table, each of us reading his/ her poem. Here will be critical commentary, with additive or subtractive suggestions. For the first session, please bring a few definitions of: what poetry is. Bring those you agree with.
In Greek Mythology, the Muses are the nine daughters of Zeus and Memory. The nine goddesses were created to directly influence the arts and sciences. Of the nine, four are specifically mentioned as guides for poetry. Four other muses are directed of tangential to the poetic process. Think about why it was necessary to have so many separate guides devoted to just one discipline.
